What is a vCard?

Know-HOw from A-Z

The term vCard stands for virtual business card, i.e. an electronic version of the classic business card. A vcf. format is used so that e-mail programs, organizers or calendars can access the information it contains.

Special generators or e-mail programs can be used to create vCards. The corresponding information is stored in a specific syntax. Properties and attributes within the vCard syntax are separated by colons.

vCards contain all the classic information of a business card, such as name, address and contact details. Virtual business cards can be embedded in emails, address books or websites and distributed by email or via online storage. This means that the information can simply be added to the relevant email program, automating the exchange of information. Electronic business cards are therefore frequently used in various online marketing areas.
