What is HTML5?

know-how from A-Z

Hypertext Markup Language, or HTML for short, is a text-based markup language that is used to structure electronic documents, such as texts with hyperlinks.

HTML 5 is the fifth version of Hypertext Markup Language. It is the standard programming language for displaying content on websites and is therefore considered the core language of the World Wide Web. HTML5 also allows web content to be marked semantically and Flash applications are no longer required for pages programmed with HTML5.

HTML5 makes websites and apps more powerful. For example, data is stored locally in the client, allowing users to work offline. In addition, videos and sound files are better integrated and web designers have more creative freedom.
