What is page speed?

Know-how from A-Z

Page speed refers to the loading time of a website on the internet. The loading time includes the time between sending a request and displaying the complete website.

The loading time of a website has a major influence on the user experience (UX). A website with a short loading time is not abandoned as quickly as a website with a long loading time. It therefore influences the bounce rate and is also an important ranking factor on search engines such as Google. Within technical SEO, page speed is sometimes optimized for websites.

Factors that influence the loading time can include HTML, JavaScript, CSS, redirects or file sizes. The PageSpeed Insights tool provided by Google, for example, can be used to analyze the loading time of a website and identify optimization options.
