What is a QR code?

Know-how from A-Z

A QR code stands for quick response code and is a two-dimensional code that is scanned and read by mobile devices. A QR code can contain telephone numbers, web addresses or free text, for example.

QR codes were originally developed to improve automotive logistics. Nowadays, they play a role in many areas of industry, but also in advertising.

The advantages of QR codes include the storage of a lot of data in a very small space and the ease of use, so there is no need to type in URLs or other data. However, one of the biggest disadvantages is that malware can easily get onto mobile devices, as you don't know what is behind the codes before scanning.
